Sorry it's a bit late, I was busy.

Voting lasts three days.

Gore.

Seriously, liberals? You vote for this guy over Humphrey?

He was the only candidate on that list who actually won the real election. Wink

Humphrey was a warmonger and quite frankly a terrible choice. I would've written in McCarthy or just stayed home.

Humphrey did support the bombing halt. Given his support for Clinton's involvement in Yugoslavia in taking one of the several equally evil sides, and supported the war in Iraq, I wouldn't exactly call Al Gore a pacifist either.

Remember that he was behind the first openly pro-civil rights Democratic platform and was the architect of much of the Great Society. However, he was a terrible speaker and unfortunately probably too nice to be president.

Humphrey was a good man but is completely overshadowed by Eugene McCarthy from the same time,  and who should have been the nominee in 1968. HHH was far too close to party bosses and owed too many favors.

The party bosses were actually somewhat split between Humphrey (the New Dealers) and Kennedy (the urban/Irish machines) before the latter was murdered. McCarthy is great, but he never would have won. The Chicago convention would have been even more epic had Bobby lived.

Kennedy was a pathetic opportunist of a presidential candidate in 1968. With hindsight I would have definitely voted for HHH in the 1968 general election but at the time I wouldn't have been able to help myself from abstaining out of sheer disgust and disappointment.

Oh, Bobby is massively overrated and would have also certainly lost in 1968. He saw that McCarthy was strong against Johnson and ran on "I'm just like McCarthy only my brother was the president!"

Humphrey was a warmonger and Gore; the man once described as "the Senator from AIPAC," who selected Lieberman as his running mate, who attacked George W. Bush as an "isolationist," wasn't?

(And yes, Humphrey was a warmonger too, of course, just no difference there).
