No. Pathological means "of mental disease" (essentially). To say Romney is a pathological liar would be to suggest that he is unaware of the lies he is telling or does it unintentionally, which I don't believe for a second. While Romney has lied more shamelessly than any nominee I've ever seen, I tend to think he's just a standard politician and the difference for him (and our perception) is the mainstream media is more inept than ever in its history, emboldening him to push it further, while the Internet makes it easier for the few who are paying attention to spot one absurd lie after another.

While "ignorant moron with the attention span of a goldfish" might be an order of magnitude or two too unkind, it is true the average voter simply doesn't pay much attention to politics, or much of anything. They are far too absorbed in their own lives (largely justifiably). We live in a bubble- we cannot forget that.

Substantively, I agree with you, Simfan. The ordinary voter is ignorant, mostly disinterested, and occasionally blinded with prejudiced. But this doesn't make him or her an idiot. Romney's problem is that he acts like that's what the average voter is to him, and it's obvious.
