I knew this would pass, but there was always that glimmer of hope in me that eventually people would come around and vote against it.  I'm disappointed as a gay man, not for myself, but for all of the gay teens in North Carolina (and across the country) who are continually told that "it gets better", and who hope and pray every night for that day to come.  Tonight's results, although expected, just reinforce to all of these kids that they their lives and their love is worth less than that of their straight brothers and sister in the eyes of the government of a country that claims "liberty and justice for all". I look forward with trepidation to the referendums in November, and that perhaps these can fulfill that promise of "it gets better".
