Most. Useless. Question. Ever.

Fetishization of the 90s? What aspect of the 90s?

blink-182, 1998 New York Jets, 1999 New York Mets, 1998-1999 New York Knicks; early The Get Up Kids, All That on Nickelodeon, Backstreet Boys.  the dot-com bubble, Dow 36000.

I also have a soft spot for reactionary 80s movies featuring Molly Ringwald and John Cusack.

If I can remember well, they only hit fame at the turn of the millenium. And I'll put them togheter with Blair/Clinton without any shadow of doubt. Punk Rock watered down untill one become bearably able to recognize It.

Those 'reactionary' movies are, in my humble opinion, the last sparks of quality at an ancient naive brand of american culture. Plus, any guy my age wanted Molly Ringwald bad. There's nothing wrong in recognizing your adversaries cultural achievements. Once You're a Marxist, You should realize that dynamic socio/economical environments always produces remarkable cultural production.

yes but Dude Ranch was an independent success and also my favorite pop punk album of all time.  released in 1997, right around the time Dave Mlicki shut out the Yankees in the first Subway Series game ever.  a game that airs on SNY all the time as a 'Mets Classic'.

does this not prove my point, or at least lend credibility to my problematization?
