My work recently implemented a new bonus system where each paycheck you can earn anywhere from an extra $0.25/hour (sounds like a joke, but hey it's still $20), to an extra $2/hour. To get the $2/hour though you have to not only meet the criteria for it but all lower bonus levels which is quite the feat. The $0.25 criteria is basically just "show up on time and do the minimum expectations for your job" so I see it as kind of a raise, even if a small one, but the $2/hour one is difficult to pull off because of all the levels you have to meet. I figured when it was announced I'd get it at SOME point, but probably not for awhile, and it'd be a great celebrated event when I did.
Well here I got, third check in under this new system, and I was one of only seven people (out of ~150) to win the $2 bonus. Now it feels like an anti-climatic letdown. I thought it'd be something just in my grasp for months and then I'd pull it off and it'd be the most exhilerating thing ever. Achievement already unlocked.
