Extremely positive.

Certainly better band names than what was the case decades ago, compare that to "The Beatles".

Neutral. Length is a low-value criterion for me when it comes to band names.

Neutral. I appreciate the variety even if it is mostly inconsequential, but it makes it harder to discuss those bands if their names can't be easily abbreviated.

Strikes me as a negative. Might not be the case, but seems like they're trying too hard to be cool.

Dumb.

Some of those would be alright as song titles though.

'The Beatles' is actually a rather simply clever pun and much more memorable as a band name than any of these. These would, however, indeed be spectacular album or song titles.

Great band name.

Let us not forget the band Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin.

With a couple of exceptions, a shorter band name is a better band name.

Negative, as they break most of the band name rules:

Rule 1. No Monosyllbility
Rule 2. No Prepositions
Rule 3. No Numbers
Rule 4. No Intentional Misspellings
Rule 5. No Catchphrases
Rule 6. No Using The Word "Mister"
Rule 7. No using stupid and pointless made up random words or complete sentances.
Rule 8. No using "God" "Jesus" or any similar words/names
Rule 9. No Acronyms.
Rule 10. No Umlauts or other usage of incorrect puncuation.

There are exceptions to all of these but here they are.

I completely disagree with most of these "rules". Long names are much more fun.

The only ones of those I agree with are 6 and 9 (and usually 4, but it occasionally works.)

An unfortunate symptom of our societal loss of subtlety and succinctness in favor of overstatements and the magnification of everything. "Did you get that? Did you get it? Do you get what I did there?" is what I'm reading when I see something like that. We have to use so many more words now because they're so devalued by our American affinity towards the amazingly, fantastically, super awesome.

I have a soft spot for the ridiculous. They do just boil down to being long for the sake of trying to seem different and to grab attention, of course, but with so many groups out there, who can blame them?

What a crock. Have you ever thought of a band name before? Did you Google it to discover it was already taken? Finding a "free" one that will stick in someone's head or make them take another look at you is quite difficult. Thus, you end up with these ideas. By the way The Amazingly Fantastically Super Awesome is a great name. I'm thinking they would have to be Japanese.

What a crock indeed.  There are still many many words you can throw together or otherwise fark with to make new band names that aren't pretentiously long.  Take my band's name (if it ever existed...which it didn't)...The Flaming Scroats....if you need one.  Or just throw some letters together and come up with a meaning later like my favorite band did.  This isn't rocket surgery...hell, that's another band name right there.....Rocket Surgery.

To be fair, I never said band names had to be long, just that it's a cheap advertising technique and a good way to avoid stealing another name. And, for the record, Rocket Surgery is taken (...as an aside, I have been using that phrase for years thinking I had thought of it on my own, but apparently I am even less clever than I thought). If I were to make up a band name, it would not be unnecessarily long and pretentious.. it would probably either be a phrase I thought up that stuck with me or a phrase taken from lyrics by an artist I like.

Also, as I had never heard the term "scroat" before, the first thing I thought when I read "The Flaming Scroats" was that it sounded a burning sensation on the scrotum. I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse, to be honest. Guess it depends on the kind of audience you're aiming for.
