Breaking 17May2012: Obama's literary agent's '91 material has him born in Kenya

I always believed Obama to be born in Hawaii due to the newspaper birth announcements at the time.  (I've never put a lot of stock in his birth certificate since that can be forged).

But, this is an interesting story:

there's nothing unbalanced about this article.  It lists printed material from 90 and 91, one listing his birthplace to be Hawaii, the other listing it as Kenya.

While I do believe the birther issue is mostly born out of xenophobia, there are certainly some strange elements in the story. This is one of them.

The full image also includes Tip O'Neill's bio, which lists him as becoming Speaker of the House in 1976. In actuality, he didn't become speaker until 1977. Looks like the fact checking on these bios was non-existent.

It said he was "named" Speaker of the House, not that he *became* Speaker of the House.  O'Neill would've been chosen as the successor to Albert in 1976 (remember, Shuler's challenge to Pelosi was in 2010).

What desperation?  Nobody is suggesting that Obama was born in Kenya.  It is a bit bizarre, though, that Obama's literary agent would say Obama was born there up until just before Obama decided to run for President in 2007.  Where did Obama's literary agent get the idea that Obama was born in Kenya from in the first place?

This story is up top on Drudge.  Even though you think it's not worth discussion, this story will not be ignored.  The administration will likely have to respond at some point.

The article goes out if its way to disavow the "conspiracy theory nonsense".  This is part of Breitbart's vetting Obama series - something the media and McCain campaign did a terrible job of in 2008.  The relevant question is who gave Obama's literary agent the false impression that Obama was born in Kenya?  From where did they get this information?  If it was from Obama himself, why did he want to say he was born in Kenya?
