I'm announcing that in accordance with the Pacific Constitution, a special election will be held this weekend for the offices of Governor and Lt. Governor. I will open the voting booth if necessary, though I encourage acting Governor Jackson to do so if he is available. Candidates will have until 9:00PM Pacific Standard Time, Thursday May 24th, to declare.

I believe it's better for the Pacific to handle this on it's own if possible, preferably according to the terms of our regional constitution, and I've probably overseen more regional voting booths than anyone (including the last time the Pacific Region missed its election, in August 2006), so hopefully the federal government will back this move. So do you not want me to open a voting booth tonight? The President instructed me to.

Hmm, I'd prefer you didn't. Does the federal government even have the authority to do that? The regional constitution is quite clear that special elections should occur on the weekend.

Furthermore, are there declared candidates yet? I think it's best to allow a few days for declarations/campaigning.

Sure, I'd rather not have to run some two-bit Pacific election. Tongue

If Justice Bgwah doesn't like the President's plan, he can take it to the Court. Or can he?

Who told you that?

Please do it in the Candidate Declaration Thread, and tell me who gave you that bad info so that I know where to send my SoFE myrmidons to break his legs.

What was clear was that the Pacific was not able to handle this on it's own.

However, with this turn of events, however late, I'm happy for the Pacific to manage this under their own laws.

How's this?

(I can make banners for other candidates - of any party - if they like what they see here...)

I haven't read the article, but I firmly support Simfan's efforts to blame Lena Dunham for our society's rot.

I think I may somehow actually be the only one. I didn't see anyone else declare.
