I suppose we represent the two extreme ends of the spectrum, and we both care a lot about fashion.

Not as silly as men who care about 'what men care about'.

How about men who care about what manly men care about?

The implication of your post is sexist. I didn't report it, but I'd ask that you consider this interpretation - you imply that men's concerns are more 'serious' than those of women.
I hope no female posters read it; if you delete it I will delete this critique as well.

opebo is, as usual, dead on.
And I seriously wonder if there are people who'd rather go out after 6PM dressed like the former rather than the latter:

I'd definitely rather go out dressed in that gorgeous tuxedo. Unfortunately I am only rarely invited to state dinners and thus am presented with few opportunities to do so. I also do not have $3000 or however much that costs.
And of course opebo is right and Gustaf is wrong, as always.

I'd much rather wear a t shirt and jeans than a tux. Not trying to impress anybody. I dress for comfort and value.

I haven't read the article, but I firmly support Simfan's efforts to blame Lena Dunham for our society's rot.

There is a clear middle ground which both sides are missing. It's so obvious that I'll have to SamSpade my answer.

BRTD's current user name is a great response to his own thread.
Anyway, to answer the concerns of the worried posters here:
Nathan, I'd agree with you and there is no such implication in my post.
Opebo, you also misinterpret the point of my post, possibly reading your own sexism into it. Women are brainwashed into caring about fashion so it's no wonder they do to such a large extent. Especially since they tend to be harshly judged by society if they don't keep up with it. I'm just making an empirical observation of correlation - men who are interested in fashion tend to be silly, and I offer this thread to back up that assertion. There are plenty of stereotypically male interests that I find silly too, of course.

If you've read my thread you'd see it had little to do with the whims and vicissitudes of modern fashion or trends....
