Got to love Minneapolis still has record stores that are really more like "vinyl + lots of cool random sh!t" stores.

I know corporate music stores are dying like bookstores and newspapers, but I thought most cities of a decent size still had "cool" record stores.

Homer's Music is Omaha's "cool" record store.  (though they seem to have closed at least two stores in the last half a decade or so)  On the rare occasion I buy a new album and don't do it through the artists website, it's from them...but it's been years since I did that.

Oh and I bought it just on the cover, but it appears to be a collection of comics commenting on hipster culture and other various Tweed-esque rants in comic form drawn by some girl from the west coast who went to college in St. Paul (so yes hordes of Twin Cities references no one not from here will get.) Basically imagine Tweed + xkcd + tons of hipster references. Sheer genius.

And in addition to the Bob Dylan record I got, the other thing was a short book typed up by another girl who lives here titled "Likes and Dislikes" which is Exactly What It Says On The Tin. A long list of things she likes and things she dislikes. How can anyone want to live in a suburb that isn't full of this stuff?

This is true, but I think it's worth noting this store opened only in 2010.

A really awful habit that I've been trying to break which involved biting my finger in anger when having to deal with very stupid things at work.

My city is more indie than your city.
