For instance I know in the TNGOP, there has always been a rivalry between the East Tennessee republicans who have always been republicans and are more in the Howard Baker/Lamar Alexander mold and the republicans in other parts of the state who are seen as the Johnny come latelys.

I also know there is somewhat of a rivalry between the suburban DC democrats and the baltimore area democrats in maryland. A lot of the montco democrats hate it how all the democratic senators in recent memory (Cardin, Mikulski, Sarbanes) have all come from the ethnic wards of Baltimore.
