You're not going to pull off the fedora look well in this century.  You'll look like a terrible nerd who thinks he's living in a different epoch and didn't even know how to dress himself then.

He bears a striking resemblance to this character:

Or maybe it's just the glasses.

I have a black one at home, and also a Panama Hat. I like the old cabby cap, as well, but I don't have one of those.

My Panama Hat is getting a bit battered, but it still is good for trips to the beach. My fedora, however... I don't have the right-shaped face to pull it off... I end up looking like the guy in that photo. I got it for a 1930s/40s themed New Year's Eve Party a few years back. I'd like to be able to do it, but I know I can't manage it.

For some strange reason, here fedoras became a basic hipster attirement in the last few years. Once nobody used hats since the late 50's (except for sport ones), I thought It was one of those imported trends, but for what you talking, I guess It isn't that way, is It?

I, too, have seen this trend. They're cheap ones, though - not especially good quality material.

Narrow brims, too. That picture has poor lighting.

Fedoras look atrocious on nearly everyone who attempts to pull them off. I've found that they're generally unstylish tools.

Cabby hats are pretty cool: working class vibes, fits modern dress and a variety of age groups.
This is very true but they look terrible on me.

You've too much hair.  For a hirsute like yourself only a wizard's-hat would do:

Wide-brimmed straws* look fine on me.

*and similar materials. I have one that I *think* is jute, and just bought one today that is made of papyrus.

Very nice!  Very good.  Sort of a medieval peasant look.
