As he premieres his new cable talk show.

Quote
"How often are you up in Sacramento?" the hotelier asked.

"Like one day a week, tops," Newsom said. "There's no reason."

It can be slow at the Capitol.

"It's just so dull," Newsom said. "Sadly, I just, ugh, God."

You can't really blame him for trying to stay relevant during these wilderness years.  Poor guy has to wait until 2018 to run for the top job himself.

I never understood why he ran. He wasn't term limited as Mayor, was he? And being Lt. Governor out there really isn't a stepping stone so...

And you're a fucking asshole. How about you try actually contributing something to a debate at some point, or are you too busy kissing Rick Santorum's ass?

Is Moonbeam running again in 2014? If so then he'll have to choose between Sacramento and one of the Senate seats in 2016/8.

Am I the only one bothered by the fact that a sitting Lt. Governor has his own TV show? Is this common?

Not like he has anything better to do.

He only had a year left as mayor before he was term limited out.

Gavin Newsom is basically the Andrew Cuomo of California. Moderate hero Democrat, except that he actually showed some leadership on gay marriage.

I take it from this quote that Newsom is the first teen girl to hold major office?

Kind of hilarious, due to that, that he's considered the left of the left of the left by pretty much anyone on the Right. 'Cause, you know; San Francisco.

It was kind of hilarious that the DLC was still proudly listing him as a member after he handed out gay marriage licenses in violation of state law. They still liked him because his other viewpoints, I guess.

For some reason I had the impression he was a really liberal type.

Edited because the end of the article answers my question. Apparently, it is somewhat common in California for elected politicians to have their own TV/radio shows.

It could be worse....

I haven't read the article, but I firmly support Simfan's efforts to blame Lena Dunham for our society's rot.

Based on what? Supporting gay marriage isn't exactly a far left or controversial position in San Francisco.

Being next in line to the Governorship of the largest state in the country---when the incumbent is 74---certainly has some appeal.

we have the same problem in IL. Before 1970, the IL LG was Senate President. That was changed and the position has so little to do that the LG resigned in 1981 citing "boredom". In 1998 the LG again resigned to take the more interesting position of president of Eastern Kentucky U.

Or steroid abusers who get arrested for domestic abuse. Tongue

The good news out of the 2010 debacle is that now IL will nominate the LG and Gov on a single ticket rather than separate nominations to make a fall ticket.
