but did anyone hear fmr senator Abdnor of South Dakota died? He was one who really made one wonder if there is any power to incumbency. In 1980, he unseated incumbent senator McGovern by a 59-41 margin which is very impressive and it was thought he would be safe. But in 1986, he himself was unseated (although it was fairly close).
