Blacks voted in large numbers in the Outer South, and actually swung Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia, and possibly North Carolina to Johnson(Goldwater won a majority of white voters in those states).

If they had been able to vote in the Deep South, Goldwater would still have carried those states, though by much closer margins.

Supposedly Orval Faubus (D), in his campaign for his sixth term as Governor of Arkansas that year, won over 80% of the black vote.  The same guy who used the AR National Guard to force the schools to stay segregated.

There was one precinct someplace in the Harrisburg, PA area, that was predominately Black and went for Goldwater.  Of course, there was also one precinct that had a 101% turnout (which is technically possible) in the same area.
