Anyone interested in participating? Rules ok?

2 points for incorrect exact result but correct goal difference plz.

How do we tip from the quarterfinal on? Result after 90 minutes?

Poland - Greece 2-0
Russia - CR 3-1

The 2 points for correct goal difference only for non-draws, right?
Yes, sorry. Smiley

I did of course win the duty of running the 2014 competition, and will honor that promise if the forum is still around and livable in then.

Well, good thing I tipped up to yesterday over on my other group (where people can't see your tips) before disappearing from the internets for a few days. Because my predictions of Portugal-Denmark 2-1, Germany-Netherlands 2-1, Italy-Croatia 1-1 and Spain-Ireland 3-0 would not have been good enough to take over the lead here but are good enough to put me in the lead there. In other words, Eintracht supporters suck at this but Earl and Phil are too good. Smiley

Shame though that you need to get tips in thirty minutes before kickoff there, though, and I just about missed that and have no tip for France-Ukraine. So I'll tip that now:

France - Ukraine 2-1

and later today
Sweden - England 2-1

Poland - Czech Republic 2-1
Russia - Greece is effectively untippable (nothing from Russia slaughtering Greece to a narrow Greek win would surprise me in the slightest), but I'll go with 2-1.

Oh, and if the Greeks win 1-0 or 2-0 and Poland and the Czech Republic draw, Russia still wins the group. But if Poland vs Czech finds a winner, the Russians are eliminated if they lose. It's a rare situation where the direct comparison rule actually creates more suspense!

Germany 3, Denmark 1
Portugal 2, Netherlands 2

And damn damn damn. Ought to have gone back and changed my prediction to a 1-0 Greek win. I actually did think about doing that. Sad

Number of points you'll get if you're right, which is identical to number of days prediction was made before tournament's end, or 15, whichever is smaller.

Italy wins 2-1.

Spain-Croatia... I think it's time to split tips between rounds. I went with 2-2 over at the other game but I'll go 2-0 here. Basically I feel that if Croatia can score once they can score twice.

Predictions for the quarterfinals:
Portugal - Czechs 2-1
Greece - Germany 1-0
Spain - France 2-1
England - Italy 0-0 (we're predicting score after 90 minutes, right? Italy to advance, obviously.)

BTW, Lewis: You might want to change your overall winner while it'd still be worth something.
6 points for being right (1/4 chance) or five deducted for being wrong (3/4 chance)? No thankee.

The points are only taken from the potential bonus. Can't go lower than 0.
Yeah... thing is
a) the five would have been deducted even if I'm right (for changing it), so it's +1 or -5 0. Since I changed it.
b) today is tuesday, not monday as assumed in my above scenario, so it's 0 or 0. Right? Or does it not count as changed if done after the original predictee is eliminated?

Nah; the reason for that is that (what with the missed games and all) this game is lost and I'm just reduplicating my tips from the other game to here. Though I forgot to change my Spain-France tip here when I changed it over there. That cost me another two points here. Sad

Franzl, is it possible for me to pick an Italy win for the final, yet if Spain wins to still get my 15 bonus points for the overall winner ?

Wink
Obviously. However, it doesn't matter. If Spain wins, you've won the competition. If Italy wins, Phil has won the competition.

I run the next one, and there will definitely not be a huge bonus for guessing an overall winner.
