I cannot find a transcript but there is a video from Canadian network CTV in an interview with Dan Rather, who is hardly a Republican booster.

Top Picks Dan Rather - CTV Video Player

This part of the interview is part two

At the 2:00 minute mark of the interview

Parahprasing

Obama has to be regarded as the underdog at this point.  As I look at what's happening Obama is going to have a very tough time getting re-elected.  I'm not saying he won't get re-elected but it will be tough.

It is a mistake to underestimate the Republicans and Mitt Romney.  Governor Romney can be and may be a strong candidate.

Most people vote their pocket books, and the economy being what it is this will be a tough issue for Obama.

I'm simply passing on the views of one of the most experienced, insightful, and knowledgeable (the Bush debacle notwithstanding) journalists in the history of journalism.

You can think what you like of his statements.

Like I say, Rather is hardly a Republican booster.

It's a shame a thread about Dan Rather is brought up in this manner.  I would really like to say he was a terrible anchor and half-wit journalist with an insufferable delivery style, but to do it here would only get me labeled as some sort of liberal tool.

Rather was once a good journalist, but that was at least two decades ago.

Dan was once a respectable guy, then the Killian incident happened. And it revealed him as much less a fair journalist and as much more a partisan hack. And destroyed his career to boot.

If people voted with their pocketbooks, the Democrats would win in a landslide.

Fixed that for you. Smiley
