To whom it may concern- I propose creating a military board. I've been delighted to discuss topics such as Congress botching its oversight of the the military, why veterans have lost their hold on the Presidency, which branch is most crucial to US interests, who is the greatest flag officer in history, etc...

As it is- these topics are thrown all over the place and it would be convenient for those of us who love to discuss them- such as myself, dead0man, Redalgo, SJoyceFla, and others- to place all of these discussions and news involving the armed services that we may want to discuss. Dead0man I believe would be a great person to put in charge of it...

There's my two cents... any one else agree?

While I understand and respect the significance of those discussions, I don't think they merit a board to themselves. For example, we have something like a third of our posters identifying as LGBT, but there isn't, nor should there be a board to discuss issues related to such issues; they are best talked about in respective boards from politics, to philosophy, to US general discussion etc. The same is true of military issues.

How about a Defense/Foreign Policy board?

So it's not just spefically military but includes other related aspects as well?

Is it really necessary?  Remember, each additional board slows down the software, so if we can just continue talking about current military stuff in U.S. General or 2012 Presidency, I think that's best.

No, thanks.

Create a sports board first.

No, thanks.

Create a sports board first.

That's not necessary either.  Sports doesn't clutter up Off Topic.  The less boards, the better.

I'd support a Defense/Foreign Policy/International Relations-type board. A place for our military, foreign policy, and cultural interchange wonks alike.

I think it's actually a good idea, even keeping in mind the need to keep the number of boards low.  (Speaking of which, I'll never get why Individual Politics and Political Debate are separate boards)

Another one I don't get the need for is Alternative History when the content seems interchangeable with what ifs?.

They definitely overlap.  The what-ifs board began as alternate election results while the Alt History board is basically everything else that is counterfactual.

Do you have any list? I'm single since January.

It seems that there is more support for this... I believe this board relates more to the purposeof the forum then a sports board frankly

Why? I love military history (I must be the only foreigner who bought all the West Point Military Atlases) but sports are more pacific and less competitive, etc. Also, gays.

Sports board = nordic boys

Military board = not nordic boys at all

Because a military board has at least some relevance to politics & elections, while sports do not.

Well let's see. The military is run by the government. The NFL is not.

UK General Election 1970 has some funny theories surrounding it. (Though I suppose those aren't very credible)

The MLB isn't either, nor the NBA, nor the NHL, nor the CFL, nor MLS.

You're on an American centric board hosted on American servers owned by an American.  You'll need to get used to our used of the term football.  You can call it association football if you want...or better yet, soccer.  It's not like you don't know what "soccer" means.
