Vacating Paterno's wins is going way too far. He went to the school board about it but the school board did nothing. Change the school board. Don't punish the kids for the actions of their coaches. The kids who want to play for Penn State are as innocent as the kids Sandusky hurt.

The school board did nothing in large part because Paterno was pushing to have this swept under the rug.  Of the players involved in the cover up Paterno had the most influence and it's clear from the emails that came out last month that he is the most guilty.

Still wasn't expecting the punishment to be this harsh, but maybe this is for the best in the long run.

That's not what I heard. Paterno didn't want it swept under the rug. He wanted it confronted. I'm not a Penn State fan (I'm an Indiana and Boise State fan). Plus Louis Freeh has been involved in some rather shady stuff covering up for Clinton's shenanigans.

Paternos seek appeal. NCAA says they can't. NCAA bylaws say they can

His name was mentioned thus his family has standing. Also the Penn State trustees have issued an appeal as well.

He has no standing because he wasn't penalized.

And there will be no appeal.......fuggetaboutit.

You call being stripped of multiple seasons of victories not a penalty? That's a penalty on Paterno personally thus his family has standing to appeal.

Paterno wasn't an enabler, the trustees who were in power at the time were. Paterno tried to confront the issue while the trustees wanted to cover it up.
