We saw it in 2010 when Republicans took over the house.  Will Senior Citizens fear hospital over-crowding, long wait lists, and health care rationing?

Does this SC ruling hurt Obama because it will motivate Seniors to vote for Romney and repeal health care?

If they're so idiotic as to believe the propaganda, maybe we should have included death panels.

Of course. The revolt shall begin in Naples and spread to all of Southwest Florida till it is repressed by those who do not qualify for AARP membership.

No effect.

The conservative base may be stupid.....but Romney isn't. Healthcare simply isn't a winning issue for him giving his background, he will give vague speeches of repeal....but the economy is going to be what he focuses on.

It's 'affect'.

And I think it won't have a net effect. It'll galvanize Republicans and vindicate Democrats.

Just like in 2010, the Health Care approval will hurt Obama.  He might have gotten some wiggle room with voters if it was repealed.  But a vast, vast majority of voters hate the Health Care bill, and those voters will be strongly in favor of voting for Romney.

Congrats to Obama, he won the health care battle, but he'll lose the war (he'll lose re-election now, its almost guaranteed).

It's not that it will help so much per se, but it would have been a catastrophe for Obama if his major accomplishment had been struck down.

Where is the evidence for this? When the question was asked during the 2010 exit poll to a more conservative electorate than what will show up in 2012, the voters were split. A good chunk even wanted to expand the bill. The mandate is unpopular but the entire bill is a mixed bag.

I voted no effect as I think the politcs are a wash.  Clearly this is a big win for Obama as a president and for his legacy. Repulicans can no longer call him Carter and can't say he "wasted" his first term.  But the politics are a bit dicey as well, as the law is still unpopular, and now its an unpopular law paid for by a large tax. As we have see in past elections, the raising taxes line often sticks..

The middle class don't want more taxes, they will rise up against Obama as well.

60% of voters disapprove of the Mandate tax.  That's enough for Obama to lose the election in my opinion.

Yes- and the fact that ObamaCare guts Medicare

Wait a second, don't Republicans want to gut Medicare more than Democrats? If Romney is serious about deficit reduction, he will go after Medicare benefits. What are your thoughts on that? The only other option is to absolutely gut military spending.

What tax does this raise on the middle class who have health insurance? Are you talking about the tanning tax? Republicans should campaign against that.

People here seem to forget that the health care law isn't going to be what decides this election.

It didn't decide the 2010 election (at least not the big margin Republicans got) and it won't be deciding 2012. The decision helps fire up some conservatives who might not have voted otherwise but helps Obama keep swing votes. In the end it will be the economy that decides this thing.

As Sbane said, it's not the law itself that's unpopular, it's just the mandate. It's a popular law paid for in an unpopular way.

You could say that about all laws; I'm sure Social Security from 45 would be popular, but the cost would be so unpopular that the law on balance wouldn't be popular. The question I think nobody has answered adequately is how well liked the sum of the popular and unpopular parts is; when you ask the conservatives their opinion of the whole law they are thinking about the unpopular costs, while the liberals think of the popular results. It would be so nice if both sides weren't so entrenched in their beliefs and we could gauge the real popularity of this, but we can't.
