You refer to yourself as a "Blue Dog Democrat". What views do you have that make you a blue dog? Where do you take a more conservative, where a more liberal stance?

Could you expand on what you mean when you say you're a conservative on FP? There's a pretty big difference between Goldwater/Paul and Bush/Cheney.

Sounds like a pretty cool platform, though it seems the majority of issues you're on the right (though in today's world, foreign policy doesn't really count). Good luck. Smiley

Says the man trying to get himself appointed "Ambassador"?

Says the man trying to get himself appointed "Ambassador"?

Not trying, succeeding. Grin

I'm talking in terms of political affiliation. We've seen Democrats be almost as willing to go to war or use force overseas as Republicans, and we've seen Republicans sometimes oppose some of Obama's foreign intervention. In the past, internationalism, intervention, non-intervention, and isolationism trade places in parties over the years. Take the days right before the second World War. Yet, don't people like Bob Taft and Arthur Vandenberg count as conservatives just as much as say, Ronald Reagan?

I'm saying it doesn't bear much weight in terms of where you are, politically.

In that sense, then yes. It's more whose party starts the wars than any sort of set ideology. And you haven't succeeded yet, not while I'm in charge of this department! (For three more days Tongue)

Said he'd appoint. At this point in time, you've just got a promise you'll get a job. You sure as hell ain't been appointed to nothing (again, not while I'm in charge).

This isn't a reflection on how I think you'd perform as "Ambassador", nor whether or not I think we need such a position (if you'd PMed me a few weeks ago I'd have readily appointed you). It's that the Senate passed a law and the President-elect is trying to do exactly what the law stopped.

Speaking of being in charge, when are you launching the nukes, Mr. Secretary?

We begin bombing in five minutes.

Note to foreign nations: this is a reference to an Atlasian politician and does not mean we'll be bombing you, so no need to change your DEFCON levels or anything.

Wait, does Atlasia have history before 2004?

I believe that any laws or events from pre-2004 America apply today, so yes.
