Yeah, this probably should have been done yesterday, but oh well. You can find the map of the laws for every state here: http://www.fireworksafety.com/laws.htm

Horrible Laws.

Though 'Safe and Sane' regulations are probably okay. The fact that several Northeastern states actually ban fireworks is shocking.

One of those things the government should not interfere with.

Horrible Laws. Minnesota's are pretty restricted but around here at least basically ignored, people shooting off fireworks for the past month and no doubt the next few days was a very common sound/sight. Hence my annoyance with Dayton for vetoing the bill to loosen them, there's no point in just having a pointless and not very enforceable law.

In Ohio you're allowed to buy them but not use them, which is about the stupidest law ever.

Most of us were (or are) teenage boys at one time so...huh...obviously Wink  You haven't lived until you've had a good fireworks war with bottle rockets and roman candles.  Bottle rockets hurt more, but roman candle fire balls are far scarier.

As for the OP, HL of course.  Thankfully I've always lived in or near a state with liberal firework laws.

That's right.  So many things of that nature in the US, of course.

Unless you are out in the middle of nowhere, restrictions make sense.   I'm not interested in having some idiot setting off airborne fire hazards near my house.

Just out of interest, how much gun control do you support?

I don't support weapons with explosive projectiles being unrestricted if that's what you mean.

WTF is wrong with this forum. The government shouldn't be allowed to restrict fireworks? Really?! Jesus Christ.

"Weapons with explosive projectiles" is a rather interesting way of characterizing fireworks.

Horrible laws, and you'll be happy to know that large swathes of Massachusetts essentially ignore them as a Boston-area imposition on our FREEDOM.jpg, particularly Cape Cod and places like Franklin/northern Worcester Counties.

Unpatriotic laws. Thankfully, fireworks are perfectly legal around here, so long as you're using them for 'agricultural' (Wink) or 'quarrying' (Wink) purposes.

I had an idiot neighbor doing exactly that last night.

But if you are in the middle of nowhere, they are HLs, and all of the states that ban fireworks outright do in fact have remote areas in them, even New Jersey (okay, Rhode Island is iffy, but it's not entirely Providence). Fireworks should be restricted locally or covered by other laws about hazards and nuisance.

HLs - just make the users liable for damages so there's an incentive against using them foolishly.

I've set off fireworks a couple times over the past twenty years just to rebel but I did not do so last night (although others in my party did). People in Illinois who live near the Indiana border go there to buy them; the approach to Indiana via Highway 80 is peppered with billboards advertising fireworks stores located near the border.
