More like the wealthiest Americans are protecting their tax rates.

It isn't how much but how you use it. Just ask Meg Whitman or Linda McMahon. Nonetheless this is still good news for Boston.

People have the right to spend their money however they want. It doesn't make me sick whatsoever, and neither did it 4 years ago.

It's all part of politics, however they spend their money is up to them whether foolish or not.  Personal opinions aside.

I doubt americans have this much money. its mainly from rich people who are scared of losing their money(Koch brothers,Karl Rove).

People's rights to do whatever they want tend to run into reasonable limitations when the exercise of those rights enters the public sphere.

Well that is a peculiar theory. But given that Barack Obama has a massive loathing of the public financing law that enacted such limitations, I presume that Mr. Romney will not care for them either.

How far are you willing to take this so-called principle?

More seriously (perhaps) there are certain implications for democracy when campaign spending (and other political contributions) reach the sort of levels seen in the U.S these days. I think the phrase 'institutionally corrupt' might be used, though perhaps we could branch out to 'structurally corrupt', which has a surprisingly effective ring to it. And that's just the first level of problematic problems!

Good to see more and more Republicans coming out in favor of legalization of all drugs and legalization of prostitution. This is good progress.

It appears Priorities USA (Obama Super Pac) had a very good June.

Democratic Super Pacs will never out raise Republican ones but it is good to see them getting in the game.

http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Romney-fundraising-record-June/2012/07/09/id/444773

Romney raised $106 million, compared to only around $71 million for the President. 94% of those donating to Romney gave less than $250.

Didn't find any CoH numbers, but I'm betting Romney has fully caught up.

You need to use it effectively as Meg Whitman can attest.

So 80% of his money came from 6% of his donors. Wow.

Romney's joint fundraising committee, Romney Victory Inc.,  released their first report yesterday (not sure why they are on a quarterly schedule and Obama's joint fundraising committee is on a monthly schedule).

http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/dcdev/forms/C00518282/798337/#SUMMARY

Interesting that so far the RNC ($53 Mill) has received far more than Romney for President (15.8 mill). The joint Fundraising committee also has 57.7 mill COH.  To me it looks like most of the money they raised is either in very  large contributions (RNC has higher limits than candidates committee) or is from donors who already maxed out their primary donations and is thus is not available until after the convention. Probably why Romney himself has not been up with many ads so far.

Quite down Lief.  Can't you see that (a baker's dozen of) Americans are investing in Victory?
