So there's a heatwave expected at last. Should make it nice; I was worried it would be a washout.

Speculation is mounting about who will carry Australia's flag, which is an honour bestowed by the chef de mission on games' eve. As with every other country, it is the highest honour our Olympians can receive, but the choices have been a bit odd over the years. My personal pick would be cyclist Anna Meares, but the odds seem to be in favour of rower Drew Ginn, who'd also be a good choice. Who will be carrying the flag for your countries?

We have Sir Chris Hoy again. The big question of course is who will carry the torch.

The Olympics Drinking Game - Opening Ceremony

Celebrity Watch

Elton John (plus 1 if 'His Partner David Furnish' is there)
A Beatle (plus 1 if it's Ringo)
A Rolling Stone.
A Spice Girl (but not Posh)
Princess Anne (plus 1 if she's wearing a tracksuit)
A Miliband.
Ken Livingstone looking sad.
Mitt Romney.

Opening Ceremony

'London Calling' by the Clash.
Any Beatles number.
Umbrellas.
Bowler hats.
A 1970's punk.
A mini.

Parade of Athletes

Broadcaster misses a small nation to cut to something else (this should get you drunk by itself).
Broadcaster cuts to Prince Philip after African nation marches by.
Audible boos when Israel march.
Ironic cheers when Jamaica march.
Libya debuts it's new flag.
Audience don't know it's France when the announcer says 'La France' and need clarification in English.
New Zealand interrupt the ceremony with a  haka (plus 1 if followed by shot of Queen looking pissed off).

Woe betide a national leader turn up at the Olympics in their home nation. Absolutely disgraceful.

Very pleased that half of Team GB's golds have been won with a Scot.

Great women's triathlon.

Men's four...the Brits were better.

Another silver to Australia, along with a nice bronze.

Australia have medals in 5 disciplines. If you work up the table only Japan has as many medals in as many disciplines until you hit the top 10. So in terms of winning medals you have a good spread. It just so happens that other nations are excelling in specific sports. Those nations will stay stagnant as their sports finish and if Australia bag a a few golds you start moving up.

I sort of miss the games already Sad London 2012 was wonderfully human. The only other games for me that compare were Sydney and Barcelona. We have the Winter Olympics in hardline Russia and then we have a party in Rio I suppose. I long for Madrid in 2020.
