The logo is Lisa Simpson giving someone a blowjob. I don't have high hopes.

I gotta say, whoever said the Olympics aren't worth hosting is just dead wrong.

Some things actually supercede finances. I don't know what the figures were for the Vancouver games, but the patriotism those games inspired in Canada was beyond anything I've ever seen. It was the proudest I've ever been to be Canadian--not because I learned anything new, but because, finally, Canadians were coming together to show that we are a proud and strong people. We don't do enough of that in Canada, and it was about time we did.

I hope the English can get that same sense of pride out of their games.

The flame was beautiful.

I have no idea what happened with the audio of Paul McCartney's closing bit, but that was really unfortunate. The bit with the house and the text messaging threw my entire family off, and I can't say I really got the point of it.

All in all, it was very impressive.

Vancouver's was better. Wink

I FORGOT ABOUT THAT!

And the leap from the helicopter! Man... for all the strangeness, there were definitely some real cool bits. Struck a good balance of poignant moments and humourous moments (like when the Americans walked in wearing, lol, Chinese berets).

Phelps sure has some competition this year. Ryan Lochte left everyone in the dust this morning.

Japan launch a protest, an element gets bumped up in difficulty score, and they end up in second. Britain still medal, Ukraine pushed out, and stoically filthy about it.

That japanese gymnist did NOT do a handstand. I don't care what the judges say.

Still, I'll take it. Tongue

It's not like we've exactly been the gold standard of sport this Olympics. Sochi will be our real test. If we can challenge what we pulled off in Vancouver, we'll be real players.

Hash, I didn't know you went to uOttawa! That was my second choice behind Queen's. Starting third year, and I'm still not sure if I made the right choice haha. The French immsersion coulda been useful.

Anyhow, is Canada still doing horrendously? I've been too demoralized to bother watching lately.

10 medals, which is quite unexpected at this point.

Eh, that's not actually too bad. Isn't our record something like 22 at a boycotted games?
