Dead Presidents is ranking all the presidents for the fourth! He's posting them all one at a time, so it'll take a while before all 43 are ranked.

Lincoln is still number one, but the rest are a little bit different than usual.

See Ernest for the rankings and links directly below. (I sent the OP from my iTouch, so I couldn't get the individual URLs without a lot of work.)

Here's the list from Anthony Bergen's Dead Presidents blog:

Disappointed by Harrison's low ranking.

I probably should have put this thread somewhere else, so it could get more notice.

So Ernest, what do you think so far?

Interesting, but Bergen apparently made the major goof of planning to post 43 blog posts (1 per President) in a single day without writing them in advance.

I know, he spent two hours between Hoover and Taylor, and he's still got 31 more to write.

Carter is in the top 20, not the bottom 10. Taft and especially Grant should also be significantly higher.

Did you read why he placed Carter so low?

Being a crappy speaker doesn't justify being two spots above Bush.

He planned for all the posts to be queued, but tumblr messed up on him, so now he's starting again and now he's going to do the top 10 tomorrow.

He seems to like wars of aggression in order to secure more slave states. Tyler's high placement is interesting; I might want to look more into him.

Now that the entire list is revealed, what do you all think?

I'll be taking in terms of who needs to be pushed lower on the list.

Well first off, at the bottom, I think Pierce and Johnson should be placed below William H. Harrison, and arguably Pierce was worse than Johnson, but it's an argument.

The relative merits of Garfield and Harding are also arguable, but Fillmore clearly deserves to be placed below that pair.

Harrison is ranked too high.  W is clearly better, and whether Harrison should be placed above, between, or below Garfield and Harding is arguable.

Taylor is ranked too high.  Hoover and Carter were both better, and it's arguable who is worse between Taylor and W.

Hayes is ranked too high.  He needs to be placed below Taft and the relative rankings of Hayes, Hoover, Carter, and W are debatable.

Coolidge is ranked too high. He needs to be placed below Q at the very least.

Nixon needs to be below Van Buren.  His placement compared to Grant is arguable especially since Grant can arguably be placed above Van Buren.

Bergen placed Wilson lower than he usually is placed in these sorts of rankings, but still not low enough.  He needs to be placed below Taft to duke it out with Hayes, Hoover, Carter, and W for his place in history.

Tyler is too high.  Like Coolidge he needs to be placed below Q.

Reagan and John Adams should switch places and both should have some of those placed above them go below them.

As usual JFK gets ranked highly mainly because of his hagiography.  Just below Jackson seems a better placement for him.

H.W. needs to join JFK below Jackson, with the relative merits of H.W. and JFK being debatable.

Jefferson is overrated as well.  He was a great man, but not a great president.  I'd put him just above Jackson.

Clinton needs to go below John Adams and duke it out with Reagan for his placement.

Polk needs to go below Truman, Ike, and Madison (the relative placement of those three is arguable) and contest with John Adams for the spot below those three.

LBJ is too high here.  I'd send him him down to join Jefferson just above Jackson.

The last demotion that needs to mentioned is FDR.  He should switch places with Monroe.
