I'm pretty sure he came up in conversation while Hugh was having a drink with my wife and me, therefore, yes, my wife would know of him.

My sister knows some of the early on stuff (leaving the job at Ok Nat Gas for the Scam) and perhaps something shortly after that.  I don't remember exactly when, but I was a bit late to the early new job/ update or whatever the hell came first stuff.

I happened to be reading though all of that and playing catch up for about 30 or so  when my sister was her visiting for a few days and just had to show it to her.
