Santorum. And if that happened, Paul would run as an independent.

Chris Christie at the convention.

But I honestly don't think they'd throw him over, unless there was a smoking gun. The GOP would portray it as a political prosecution timed to steal the election, and use it to fire up the base.

^this. But honestly, if they had to replace Romney at the convention, Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio would be much more likely.

Why bother with a what-if that there is no whiff of even distant smoke that it would happen?  Still, if something unfortunate were to happen to Romney between now and the convention, it would blow things wide open.

...it would be an embarrassment to the Obama Administration. You just don't arrest your political opponent.

And then go on to historic  triumph in a charismatic romp, vanquishing all who would come between virtue and the ultimate redemption of the nation.

Ugh! Personality-cult prose! I hope that it is satire.

Really, if Rick Santorum became the Man on the White Horse for the GOP he would quickly show why he lost by 18% in a bid for re-election to the Senate in 2006. Maybe his Opus Dei ideals well fit the ideological pretensions of white Christian Protestant fundamentalists, but that is about as far as he goes.

Ultimate redemption for America is not some Christian and Corporate State. Such is ruin... an Evil Empire seeking out a fight and getting it, only to get a sucker punch.

There was only one truly relevant Rick in 2012.

Personally, I don't think he's done much good since Extras.
