A girl? No, no. The European champions! They're arriving in Philly right now (well, in probably an hour. Twitter says they're en route) and will be playing the MLS "All Stars" on Wednesday. I'll be going to the match so I'm really excited. Sort of funny considering my bitterness towards the team after they defeated Napoli in the Champions League and developing a mini rivalry with some friends that are Chelsea fans. Now, however, I've come to admire to team after beating Barca and Bayern in last season's astounding turn around.

For anyone that is a true Chelsea fan, you should be happy that they're in Philly. We are a good luck city. Last pre-season, Juventus trained here. Unfortunately for Napoli fans like myself, Juve went undefeated and won the Scudetto. Real Madrid played a pre-season match here and won La Liga. I had the privilege of seeing both teams while here so maybe I'm bringing some luck, too. Wink

Anyway, wish me luck in trying to meet some of the players while they're downtown today. Any Philly area Soccer fans should try to meet them, too. We've been spoiled over the last two Summers with elite teams visiting but seeing the European champs is rare.

I suppose it's actually quite appropriate given what Chelsea fans are like.

Actually, there is a particular girl that is likely coming to town this week and there's real potential but that's a) a long story and b) not something I would discuss here. Wink

Come on, Al. Chelsea fans aren't that amazing.

I hope you'll be cheering for the Good Guys at the game, Phil, even if Chelsea will probably destroy them.

My ex girlfriend is a huge Chelsea fan. I hate them for that reason.

LOL! I certainly won't be rooting for the "All Stars." I'm looking forward to a thrashing.

Your lack of patriotism (and, worse, support of Chelsea) has been noted.

Shouldn't your first point have been noted years ago (see: my signature)? Tongue

Apparently, European football coming in North America is common at this time of year.

Montreal (Impact, that's MLS) receives the Olympique Lyonnais (that's France) tomorrow.

Hmm, should I take the quick journey down I-95 to see Celtic get hammered by Madrid on August 11th.

Looks like tickets to Linc are pretty affordable.

I was going to go to the Real Madrid-Celtic match but I decided to skip it since I saw Madrid last year at the Linc. Anyway, it might not be a hammering: the Union only lost 2-1 to Madrid last year. I love beating up on the Union and MLS but they actually put on a good show.

You should have seen Chelsea-PSG last night, Pat! They were at Yankees Stadium.

I had some family in town from PA and didnt even realize they were playing.  However, suffice it to say that I am not a big fan of either Chelski or Yankee Stadium Smiley

I think I may head down.  Looks like a Bolt bus is $25 round trip- cheaper than driving even. I wouldn't expect very good football in the exhibition but I can still break out some scarves and the song book.

Woah, whaaaat? I didn't know about this. I was gonna wait for Madrid to come back too, but this is just as good. And my dad would be pissed if I went, he's a huge Chelsea fan hehe Smiley

Fezzy come down to the NovaCare complex. They're training and I'm literally the only person at the fence (while everyone else is going to Italian Heritage Night at the Phillies Tongue). I'll upload my pictures later.

Hiding in the bushes? No, not quite. Behind a fence behind bushes.  Tongue

You've got to be kidding me! I went out for lunch earlier to try to find the players. As I was walking all over downtown, they were in the City Hall courtyard, almost literally right under my nose and I missed them! Damn it! Sad

Fluke last minute goal for the All Stars. Fun game. Lots of scoring, which is really all I wanted. Congrats to the MLS on the upset. Check my Facebook tomorrow for pictures. Smiley

MLS All-Stars are better than Barcelona now, by the transitive property. Tongue
