12 hours a day three days a week.
4 hours a fourth day.
All other days off.

A girl from my work who got a new job apparently got this as her schedule and likes it. I might like it for a month or so but after that, bleh.

No. But I'd do 10 hours for 4 days, then 3 days off.

Certainly better than the standard schedule.

Only if I could use mass transit to commute or lived fairly nearby; a long drive to work only four hours would feel entirely useless to me.

I once held a job similar to this. It's actually not that bad.

Depends on what I do. If I did the same type of work I do now as an intern on the Hasner campaign, for example, I could deal with it. But it would get tiring. Think about it, you only get one more day plus the weekend that does not have work Wink

basically agree with Bacon King.  if the commute were a half hour each way or less then yes.

St. Paul to Edina is probably around that, though it depends on where she lives in St. Paul of course (I'm going to assume west side because that's closer to my current job/her old one and her roommate still works here.)

At one of the places I worked previously, the 3x12 option would have someone work 12 hours a day, 3 days a week (generally Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday) and get the other 4 hours free, but still get paid for 40.  So, this person would get 4 full days off each week, enough for a mini-vacation each week.  The 4 hours would come back into play if the person wanted to work any overtime, he or she would have to work those 4 hours before overtime kicked in.  Basically, the person would be working for nothing the first 4 hours.

I've done 4x10's and really enjoyed it.  I couldn't handle 3x12's.  My body needs too much rest and I don't want to basically sleep for 2 straight days of my 4 days off.  I actually prefer 5x8's over either.

If it's not physically demanding work, I would certainly prefer 4 10 hour days over 5 8 hour days.  I'm not sure about the 3 12's and a 4 though....probably better than a 5 day week...could I just work a full 16 the last (or first) day?

I guess it's better than 8 hours a day, 5 or 6 days a week.

I have no desire to work more than 8hr a day, but I have on occasion. Being able to relax every day is more important to me than only being able to relax for 3 or 4 days straight. Plus, I'd be bored...

it's a Hell man.  the investment bankers work 100 hour weeks.  I'm sending a bro or two into the plunder service in the next few months.

Well I wasn't thinking of those people, Tweed, I was thinking of waiters and garbagemen.  After all, the 'investment banker' is so rare that you might as well complain of the working conditions of the Astronomers.  Most people are waiters and garbagemen, or the equivalent.
