Republicans have already spent about 4 Mio. $ in Michigan so far, Obama nothing:
http://nationaljournal.com/hotline/ad-spending-in-presidential-battleground-states-20120620
Says PPP:
Quote
We continue to find Obama up double digits in Michigan, really just don't buy that as a competitive state.
Not a great weekend for Obama on our national poll but he's up by solid margins on the MI and PA polls we'll have out in the morning.
Condi on the ticket chopped 6 pts off Obama's lead on both our MI and PA polls over the weekend- real game changer potential there.

I think that, ironically, Rasmussen's poll in the middle has the best result with Obama+6.
Mitchell's Romney+1 looks like an outlier and PPP's double-digit Obama poll too.
If Obama's internal polling showed a close race, the campaign would have aired some ads by now, and the campaign does a lot of polling recently:

Very interesting to see how the race would change with Condi. I wonder how these polls weigh on the Romney camp...

Condi would give Romney a huge short-term boost, but in the long-run I don't think she'd actually be as helpful as polls are showing.

If

So let me make sure I understand. When Rasmussen has a Republican up in a poll, they're full of it, trolls, junk poll. But when they have a Democrat up, that's "saying a lot."?

You just answered your own question. Rassy tends to be pretty Republican leaning, so yes it does say a lot when they tend to show better results for the Democrats than the mean.

I guess my point is either Rasmussen's polls are crap and they don't say a lot, or they're not crap and their results "say a lot." And Rasmussen is not quite as Republican leaning as you seem to think:

I think this is probably accurate for where Michigan is right now. By election day when Obama puts some money in and the unions make their push, that'll give Obama a comfortable lead. Plus, having Pete Hoekstra as our Senate nominee isn't energizing anybody in the GOP really.

NBC Marist also had this as a 4 point race. But I like your utter lack of logical thinking in excusing PPP's consistent junk polling.

I sincerely hope that Romney doesn't buy into this narrative that Michigan is up for grabs. He'll need to be laser focused on NC, VA, FL, and OH to have any chance of winning this election.

That still only gives Romney 255 electoral votes to Obama's 283. Throw in Indiana and it's still Romney 266, Obama 272. He has to win somewhere else. Is Michigan the most likely place for him to do it? No. But polling pre-VP and pre-convention has been strong there, and Romney needs to compete for more than just 266 electoral votes.
