I like Casey, but Smith's inoffensive enough that I'll probably vote Republican through force of habit.

Neither, but Tom Smith as an alternative to the awfulness that is Bob Casey.

From Tom Smith's website:
Quote

The bolded is dishonest. It pains me to see Republican candidates misrepresenting the truth so flagrantly. I lose a lot of respect for candidates, Democrat or Republican, who feel they can simply make up their own facts to sell their point. Job growth is slower than where it needs to be, everyone agrees on that. The effectiveness of Obama's policies in changing that is up for debate. What isn't up for debate are the statistics on private sector job creation, which has been showing a net positive since early 2010. Unless Tom Smith is arguing for more public sector jobs, then he is misrepresenting reality. Good candidates do not need this sort of dumbassery to make their point and I'm disappointed that Tom Smith believes that he does.

That said, I've never thought much of Bob Casey. I find him to be pompous, entitled, and especially ineffective (0-324 on sponsored legislation since taking office isn't a good selling point). I would begrudgingly vote for the desperate Republican.

My choice is obvious but my points/criticisms from the primary remain.

I'll hold my nose and vote for Casey. I've never been a fan of his, but he's less offensive than Smith.

Casey, who of course will win. It will be interesting to compare the results to 2006 with a far less controversial candidate but without Santorum's political advantages.

Who did you support in the primary?

Welch (which may surprise you but really shouldn't. I wasn't thrilled with the primary field though. I wish Burns had stayed in.)

Wasn't he the super establishment type? I was pulling for Rohrer, but even before him I was pulling for John Vernon.

He was the establishment pick and I wasn't too fond of how he got the party's backing but he was the best candidate. I had my issues with him but he is very intelligent, very articulate and not a RINO (like he was being made out to be). Coincidentally, today is his birthday.

I personally like Rohrer and have some loose connections to him but I thought Welch was a far better candidate.
