For future references:
This is the Amendment to Article 1 of the Mideast Constuition.
I think bringing in a Lt Governor may promote competition and activity that's why I'm sponsoring this legislation.

You have Articles I - IV listed. I'd suggest you condense this down to exactly what you want to have edited.

Inks: This is the reviving of a defeated amendment from last session. All the alterations are relevant and it would be wrong to condense.

Amendments were made to all those articles. Looking back, the title of the last debate thread was inaccurate, as it amends more than just Article I.
I'd suggest changing the name to something easy, such as "Reestablishing the Lieutenant Governor Amendment".

My suggestion to make this more readable is to strikethrough what language you want removed from the current wording and bold what you want added.

I am opposed to this since the Lt. Governor position as defined by this amendment is simply an extra position and a placeholder that the Speaker of the House already fills. I'm not entirely opposed to the idea of a Lt. Governor, but the office needs to mean something. Just having an office isn't useful, that was why it was banned in the first place.

FTR, no extra position is created with this amendment.

What exactly is the point of creating a Lt. Governor who's Speaker of the Assembly?

Again, I can see both sides, but maybe some specific positions could be created to separate the roles of the Assembly Speaker and the Lieutenant Governor. Why not keep the Speaker position the way it is and establish some separate role for the LG?

This is precisely my opinion. If we move forward and create a Lt. Gov. office, it should be a separate office. However, we don't need a Lt. Governor who essentially does the same as the Speaker.

I really would've liked to have seen this broken down to show exacly what was changed from the current language, but debate has died down, so I'm bringing it to a vote.
Seeing no further debate, the amendment is brought to a vote. Members will vote AYE, NAY, or ABSTAIN. This will be a 48-hour vote.

Voting is now closed. The AYEs are 4, and the NAYs are 1. The AYEs have it and the amendment is passed. The amendment is now passed onto the people for a vote.
