Senator Flo wins with a mandate

Senator Flo (D-FL)/Governor Sirnick (D-NY) - 52.4%, 345 EV's
Governor Maxwell (R-OK)/Senator DC Al Fine (R-MD) - 45.7%, 193 EV's
Others - 1.9%, 0 EV's

Former Senator and Governor of Oklahoma Maxwell, a libertarian pragmatist, somehow managed to take the Republican nomination for himself. His ideas were in stark difference to the Republican establishment, and when Florida Democrat Flo was nominated, he trailed by as much as 15 points across the nation. As the campaign went on, Maxwell chipped Flo's lead down, nominating Maryland Senator, DC Al Fine, a Moderate with socially conservative trends, and many liberals looked at the Flo ticket, with a fiscal conservative and Flo's hard on crime record, and Democrats were worried about Liberal turnout. However, Flo was in no danger of losing: he won the generic Democratic states plus North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, Iowa, Nevada, and Arizona. However, Maxwell managed to swipe New Hampshire, and inspite of poor polling, he won Indiana.

1880

President Matthew Rose's signature on the Ten Hour Bill and his insistence on federal arbitration for the Great Strike of 1877 (which was ultimately settled in favor of the strikers), as well as his support for tariffs on industrial goods and civil service reform ultimately causes him to fall out of favor with many in the Democratic Party, which denies him renomination in 1880. The Democrats instead select the right-leaning Governor of Colorado, Maxwell, a classically liberal Democrat who promises to slash the tariff and take a harder line against the labor movement.

The Republicans once again turn to the Speaker of the House, the radical from Kentucky with close ties to the emerging labor movement. The "Father of the Ten-Hour Day," Speaker TNF campaigns on a platform of restricting working hours for women and children, supporting federal arbitration in the case of a strike, and higher tariffs to support American industry.

In a similar pattern to the 1876 contest between Speaker TNF and then General Rose, the Democrats make inroads with industrialists and the upper middle class, while the Republicans continue to eat into the immigrant base of the Democratic Party.

Governor Maxwell becomes the first President from west of the Mississippi to hold the office.

The election was quite close as the two were quite ideologically similar. It ends up centering around rhetoric- with Kentucky Governor TNF doing better in the South and with working class whites, while Sol did better in big cities and with minorities. Sol won very narrowly, thanks to Minnesota, which was called after a month-long recount.

Former Senator Sol/ Mayor Bill DeBlasio 50.2%
Governor TNF/Representative Mike Michaud 49.8%

2008 - Democratic Primary

Congressman Sol (North Carolina)
Governor Scott (Connecticut)

After a bitter long primary, Governor Scott of Connecticut concedes the nomination to Congressman Sol of North Carolina.  Scott, a former minister, did best among working class whites and traditional Democrats in rural areas, which at the time were a shrinking demographic within the party.  Sol, the more liberal alternative, did best among urban areas and minorities who were quickly winning the heart of the Democratic Party.

1928

The 1928 campaign would not have been possible were it not for radio. The wide range of radio helped propel Scott, a minister from Connecticut, to the GOP nomination with relative ease; his crisp speaking style and charisma did the trick at the Republican National Convention, of course, and his promise to continue Harding and Coolidge's "policies of prosperity" i.e. lower taxes, co-operation between business and government, and protectionism. He vowed to uphold prohibition, Christian morality, and public decency.

The Democrats ultimately nominated Senator TNF, a recent addition to the U.S. Senate with a charismatic speaking style and an uncompromising populism that melded agricultural laborers with industrial workers.

2032 Democratic Primary:

Reverend Scott (D-CT)
Governor Adam C. FitzGerald (D-OH)

Rev. Scott is backed heavily in the South for being more economically conservative than was his opponent, Adam FitzGerald. FitzGerald's promotion for strict gun control and critical stances on certain religions including Mormonism and Catholicism also helps Scott greatly in the South, most of the Northeast and Mountain area in the Democratic primary. However, Adam FitzGerald gets the backing of many middle-class workers, unions and minorities in the industrial and Pacific states.

Ultimately, Rev. Scott significantly outnumbered the number of highly populated states carried by FitzGerald and wins the popular vote and most delegates for the nomination.

1968

Gov. Oldiesfreak1854 (R-MI)/Gov. Nelson Rockefeller (R-NY): 328 (49% PV)
Sen. AdamFitzgerald (D-OH)/Sen. Ralph Yarborough (D-TX): 157 (45% PV)
Fmr. Gov. George Wallace (I-AL)/Mr. Curtis Lemay (I-OH): 53 (6% PV)

The 1968 presidential election turns out to be a hot 3-way contest.  Republicans, still reeling from Barry Goldwater's embarrassing landslide defeat in 1964, nominate moderate Governor Oldiesfreak1854 of Michigan.  Oldiesfreak is a strong supporter of civil rights legislation, an outspoken anti-Communist, and a "chicken hawk" on the Vietnam war, supporting a de-escalation but opposing a total withdrawal.  At the convention, Oldiesfreak chooses Governor Nelson Rockefeller of New York (one of his challengers for the GOP nomination) and positions himself as the moderate candidate who would fight against racial segregation, violent crime, and the counterculture.  His candidacy, however, alienates many conservatives who supported Goldwater four years earlier; Oldiesfreak in turn attempts to unite conservatives and moderates in their opposition to Democrats.
Meanwhile, Democrats nominate Senator AdamFitzgerald of Ohio.  Adam, a dovish liberal, is similarly pro-civil rights but supports an immediate withdrawal from Vietnam.  Much of his support comes from unions and blue-collar employees, as well as the anti-war movement.  In order to shore up his liberal base, Adam chooses Senator Ralph Yarborough of Texas as his running mate.  Segregationist Democrats, meanwhile, support former Alabama Governor and Democrat George Wallace with General Curtis LeMay, running on the ticket of the newly created American Independent Party.
During the campaign, Oldiesfreak attacks Wallace's racism and Adam's counterculture support, while linking Adam to President Johnson and the "failed policies of the past."  He also campaigns in metropolitan regions of the South, seeking support from pro-civil rights moderates and migrants while attempting to marginalize the segregationist vote.  Adam pledges to expand Johnson's Great Society programs and negotiate peace talks in Vietnam.  Wallace, on the other hand, smears both major party candidates as "sissy britches" and secret tools of the Soviet Union attempting to undermine America.
On Election Day, voters send a clear verdict repudiating both ideological extremes; giving Oldiesfreak a decisive victory in the Electoral College and 49 percent of the national popular vote.  Similarly, Wallace siphons off enough segregationist and blue-collar Democrats to carry six Southern states and hand several Rust Belt states, including Adam's home state of Ohio, to the GOP ticket.

Independent candidate Representative and fmr Sec of Interior shua is considered a strong contender to attract a broad coalition of liberals, moderates and libertarians against Republican President Reaganfan. However, shua is attacked as a tree-hugging pothead pro-Sharia peacenik anarchist, while his opponent's patriotic message leads to a win in Michigan thanks to "Reaganfan Democrats."

1916

Incumbent President TNF (D-Ky.) has spent the last four years enacting the provisions of his "Fair Deal" program, a program that has provoked unprecedented opposition from American industrialists. As war looms in Europe, the President forms an electoral alliance with the Socialist Party and members of the old Progressive Party who oppose U.S. entry into the war, campaigning on reform and prosperity at home without the risking American liberty in a perilous conflict abroad.

His opponent, Wisconsin Gov. ElectionsGuy, is campaigning largely against the President's social and economic reform package, while emphasizing his own isolationist principles.

President TNF of Kentucky and Vice President Mechaman of Oklahoma (Democratic Party): 263 electoral votes
Governor ElectionsGuy of Wisconsin and Governor Reaganfan of Ohio (Republican Party): 268 electoral votes

1912

Sen. TNF (D-KY)/Gov. Thomas R. Marshall (D-IN): 401
Pres. Oldiesfreak1854 (R-MI)/Vice Pres. George W. Norris (R-NE): 130

Incumbent president Oldiesfreak1854, a moderate Republican from Michigan, has spent his first term toeing a fine line between conservatives and progressives in his party.  He supports some progressive reforms, such as women's suffrage, recall elections, and ballot initiatives, but also opposes the prohibition of alcohol and advocates a mostly internationalist foreign policy.  This angers many progressives and isolationists in the GOP, and he further angers them with his support of the Payne-Aldrich Tariff in 1909, a compromise bill that lowered tariffs on some goods.  In 1912, Oldiesfreak runs for reelection, and despite progressive calls for a challenge within the GOP, manages to win re-nomination easily.  In the general election, his Democratic challenger is Senator TNF of Kentucky, a progressive Democrat with a strong populist streak and some socialist leanings.  He builds a strong coalition of workers and immigrants, as well as progressive and isolationist Republicans who abandoned Oldiesfreak after the convention.  Ultimately, in spite of Oldiesfreaks' best efforts, TNF defeats him by a decisive margin, built mostly on his large support base compared to the president.

2016:

Senator Scott (D-CT)/Governor Jerry Brown 281EV (D-CA) 50.8%
Governor Madman (R-IN)/Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) 257EV 49.2%
In a close election determined mostly on the candidates' stand on economics, as they agreed on many social issues, Sen. Scott eeked out a narrow win. Factors included: The name of Governor Madman, is he a madman? And Scott's experience and moderation. Madman made inroads in deeply conservative states, and came close in Colorado and Iowa. Overall a clean fight.
