Something's wrong in America when somebody like Lieberman can be considered a 'centrist' or 'middle-ground' guy.

To be fair, that isn't a problem unique to modern day America. Germany had a "Center" party that voted to make Adolf Hitler dictator.

If Joe wants a slot at the Pub convention, he needs to endorse Mittens. KISS.

I dissent from the Joe bashing on this thread btw. We have enough hyper partisans in Congress, and the slots are all filled.

Joe filled a unique position of being a hyper partisan for his own brand. Ben Nelson is a centrist but he does it by voting against his party or making compromises, not by going on Sunday talk shows to make tendentious, sanctimonious criticisms of his colleagues. It was the way Joe did it and the reek of sour grapes that makes him so widely disliked.

In fairness, that was after a 2 year period of running their own de facto dictatorship (under Heinrich Brüning) and throwing up their hands at the utter impossibility of the situation.  And Zentrum was never supposed to be a Centrist organization, it was a Catholic particularist organization.

He is up this year and he won't run again, so, this year.

I'm not sure which part of this post is the most asinine.

I would rather have 10 Ben Nelsons than 1 Joe Lieberman, even though Nelson is more conservative, Lieberman undermines the party more, and your post perfectly encapsulates why so many in the Democratic party, even moderates, dislike him.
