I've been reading about the news of Americans Elect. On May 17th, the primary process was over and no candidate met the threshold needed to get into the online caucus. However, they're not ruling out choosing a Presidential ticket for this election.

They have ballot access in 29 states: Alabama, Arizona, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

The question is will they finally end up nominating somebody or not?

Too late. Write-in candidacies for the Presidency are ineffective.

They've already indicated that they will not be running anyone for president.  That isn't to say there won't be any candidates on the Americans Elect ballot line.  Over in Arizona, where apparently all registered parties are automatically given primaries, two people filed to run in the primary for the 4th and and 8th CDs on the Americans Elect ballot line.

No. They chickened out, but that's probably a good thing.

They should hook up with the Reform Party and bring it back! It wouldn't take much to improve on their 481 vote showing in 2008.

Agreed; they should rebuild the Reform Party with the network they built. It is still highly unlikely that their little wetdream about a Mike Bloomberg/Collin Powell ticket will ever come true.

Was anyone really hoping for such a ticket? Why would a popular, well established former Four Star General, Commander of the US Army, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Secretary of State take a back seat to a joke like Michael Bloomberg? Completely asinine. Furthermore, I doubt Powell and Bloomberg would find too much common ground. I've never understood this notion among independent centrists that any two centrists who go against their party (or renounce it entirely) are compatible on a Presidential ticket.

Either way, I was only part serious. There isn't enough of the Reform Party left to rebuild. Last I heard, the party was still in the middle of legal battles over who are the rightful heirs to it. Remember, this is a legal battle that has been going on in one form or another since their 2000 convention. I think Ross Perot's lack of interest in the party he started is indicative of just how dead the rabbit really is (as if netting 481 votes in a national election wasn't enough of an indicator).
