Yes, I don't pay a federal income tax. I'm underemployed and earn about $6,500/yr.

Yes, because

1. I'm not American.
2. I don't have a job.

I pay plenty of income tax but I'm not going to lower myself and call myself a (r) or (d).  Prudes, the both of 'em.

I personally don't pay federal taxes because I'm not obligated to, but I will when the time comes.

Nope -I work and I pay my taxes.  And yet, I'm still a Democrat and I'm still voting the partyline.

I pay both federal and state income tax, yes, but last year I happily paid a negative amount of money.

Option 3. Of course Obama cut the tax that I pay, and we all know Mitt Romney and the Republicans never would as I don't make over $250k.

I'll have to see how the numbers work out this year. I very much doubt it. I have no kids and am no longer in school. And there's no free $400 rebate like there was a few years back. In any case, my income tax "burden" is extremely trivial. Like most people, I pay far more in FICA and sales taxes.

No. I paid taxes last year off dividends I received. I'm in the group that Mittens care about Wink

Taxes and Torie are bound at the hip like Siamese twins. So no. But as I am moving closer to my entitlement years, and play more and work less, the gap between what I pay in, and what I get back, is narrowing - and more than it should frankly. I am a means testing hard liner. If I were dictator, I would screw myself royally - because I think it right.

I don't pay income taxes, because as a first year law student I'm not allowed to work. But I also don't receive any money from the government. Though I guess they do subsidize my loans, so that kind of counts. Hopefully my grades are good enough that I can get a paying job over the summer, so I can be in the 53% and Mitt Romney will be proud of me.

A large majority of Americans -- including many of those who don't pay income tax -- would identify themselves as part of the 53% if the question was asked. As for me, being 15, I pay no taxes, but my parents pay income tax.

I think Mitt was talking about households, so if your legal guardians pay income tax, then you're in the 53%.

I didn't know that, Lief. Where at?

I've been meaning to ask, Duke how 1L (or is it now 2L?) has been treating him too.
