fighting with paradox. say there's a group... there's a group, and they are there, and they subscribe to certain principles that you do NOT agree with. you think they're intellectual peons. but you LIKE the people, and they claim you'll DIE if you don't subscribe.

Continue associating with them to whatever degree you feel comfortable, but don't believe whatever claims they say you need to subscribe to without sufficient evidence. Since it sounds like it's a personal association, you may just want to not discuss the issue with them and let them know you aren't comfortable discussing it and just continue being friendly with them. If at some point they decide that you not adopting their views makes things such that they can no longer associate with you, that is entirely on them and you'll just have to live with it. Consider it their loss and move on.
