Leave me alone.

Nathan my man, opebo has been all over me - and for years!  There is a way to manage it all - yes there is - while prospering and being happy. Smiley

I was getting the hang of it, I think, but I've been sick, and overworked, and he touched a particular nerve (series of nerves, actually), and I'm really just not in the mood to play along.

Nathan, I seriously thought you would take my attentions as I know Torie does - the sincerest form of flattery.

Non-apology accepted. I understand why you thought that and when I'm over this cold perhaps I will.

It's not this particular question I object to--I'd love to assemble a Cabinet of mentally-ill non-heterosexual female clergy for your and others' perusal--but (1) this is Atlas for God's sake so you might as well ask me to assemble a blessing of unicorns*, (2) you actually seem to be more interested in this than I am, which I understand why you'd consider flattering but I consider disturbing, and (3) my own mental health isn't something I appreciate joking or prying questions about, especially of the 'faking' sort, serious or otherwise. Ever.

*This is the correct noun of assemblage for unicorns. It's wonderful.

Updating mine. Again, titles are for the most part a mishmash of current or former American, Japanese, and Irish terms or parts of terms.

Cabinet secretaries only for now because my computer is running out of battery.

President: Nathan (D-MA)
Vice-President: AdamGriffin (D-GA)

Chief Cabinet Secretary: Antonio V (D-CA)

Secretary of State: Averroës Nix (D-NY)
Secretary of Finance: Marokai (D-OH)
Secretary of Defense: SJoyce (D-FL)
Attorney General: Napoleon (D-NY)
Secretary of Social Welfare: Scott (D-CT)
Secretary of Education and Culture: anvi (D-IL)
Secretary of Labor Relations: TNF (D-KY)
Secretary of Public Lands and Marine and Natural Resources: Mechaman (O-OK)
Secretary of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries: Snowguy (D-MN)
Secretary of Environmental Protection: Harry (D-MS)
Secretary of Infrastructure, Transport, and Urban Development: traininthedistance (D-NY)
Secretary of Economy, Trade, and Industry: Snowstalker (O-PA)
Secretary of Communities and Heritage: DC Al Fine (R-NS)
Secretary of Energy: TJ in Cleve (R-OH)
Secretary of Rural Development and Primary Industries: Al (O-UK)
Secretary of Veterans' Affairs: Clarence (D-FL)
Secretary of Electoral and Census Administration and Oversight: muon2 (R-IL)
Secretary of Immigration and Public Safety: General Mung Beans (D-CA)

Director of the Office of Management and Budget: Gustaf (D-SE)
Permanent Representative to the United Nations: Mikado (D-DC)
Director of Central Intelligence: Torie (R-CA)
Director of the National Security Administration: Maxwell (R-OK)
Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation: Oakvale (I-IE)
Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives: Grumps (I-PA?) (But of course.)

A lot of the portfolios were created with some degree of overlap deliberately in mind, to emphasize that I want to pay a lot of attention to a specific policy area or to foster debate between differing viewpoints within the administration or both.

Sort of. It's a Japanese title the holder of which prepares discussion materials for cabinet meetings, coordinates between ministries in times of national crisis, does policy research, and serves as (or deputizes) the government's press secretary. So sort of like a combined White House Chief of Staff and White House Press Secretary. In a semi-presidential system it would probably end up closer to a Prime Minister than not, yeah.

anvi, you're making me HUD Secretary despite the fact that I'm an avowed anti-urbanist? That seems like a bad idea, more so for HUD than for me.

I though it might be a good experiment, challenging you to humanize urban life and bringing some humanity back to the cities.  Neil Young used to ask accomplished musicians who backed him up on albums to play instruments they had never played before--and it always turned out very well, so I'm sort of like that.  Smiley

Think of it this way, Nathan:  If you're invested in preserving small-town and rural life, as I assume you are, you'd be better able to do that if you adopt urbanist goals and views, to make central cities (and inner suburbs) the best they can be.  That way, there will be less temptation for metro areas to spill out into the exurbs and ruin your countryside.  There's way too many folks on this earth for everyone to live an idyllic, authentic rural lifestyle.

You know what? You're right. (Obviously central cities and inner suburbs, as little as I personally like them, are far better than exurban sprawl and I would never claim otherwise.) On further consideration I think it's a challenge I might find really interesting.

I tried to do an update of mine from August but I edited the original post instead of quoting it for a new one. For the record, in August my Vice President was Wyodon and I had Drj at Public Lands, Redalgo at Environmental Protection, Mechaman at Immigration, and Beet at OMB.

Ambassador to the Court of St James: Catchon (R-MI) just to see what happens.

Nathan, I was getting kind of worried when I didn't spot my name in the cabinet, but the ambassadorial appointment makes it well worth it. Smiley Obviously, I'd try to start out subtle, attending meetings of various "Free Ireland" and "End the Monarchy" groups. After that, I'd move onto speaking engagements for said groups until it finally became so humiliating that I'd be recalled and made Ambassador to Russia or something (at which point I'd switch from republicanism to anti-communism as my main talking point).

I'd just keep reappointing you to different countries until we found one where you wouldn't cause an international incident and then keep you there until six months before I left office. When I'd move you back to Britain.

Looks like nobody wants me in their cabinet anymore. Tongue

You're still my Chief Cabinet Secretary.
