They don't. Only a few Rombot hacks are so sure.

Any sane person recognises the huge difficulty Romney faces in this election. From a horrible EV map, inability to 'connect' well on a personal level, incumbent 'Presidential' advantage to weak ground organization etc.

Ultimately, the election will come down to whether voter perception of the economy either improves, remains the same, or declines from late August to November. Improves and it's a 2008 all over again. Status-quo is probably a 270-303EV Obama win, with a small chance of a very narrow Romney win. A decline would mean a locked on Romney win.

Nobody should call this election now.

He doesn't.  It's a tossup, a 50-50 race by all accounts.

Because that's what they want to believe. Reading what some say, you'd think that Romney doesn't even have to campaign and has already won.

Why do they think he has this election in the bag?

Same could be said for liberal hacks, as well, thinking Obama has this election in the bag.  It truly is anybody's election.  Romney is sitting comfortably right now, just 1-2% behind, but Obama is still in the lead.  I truly don't think we'll know the winner until early Wednesday morning, November 7, 2012.

Neither candidate has the election in the bag, but I'd rather be Obama right now than I would Mittens.

I don't think anyone is "so sure of a Romney win."

I am a Romney supporter and I am certainly not so sure of a Romney win.

One thing for sure on this forum is that many of the Obama supporters are certain of an Obama win, however.

Three months are a long time in politics. No sane person would bet his life on either Obama or Romney having this in a bag as we speak.

People here certainly aren't; just looking at this poll result says more then enough about what we believe:

Well even if you believe Obama is +2 now, I could see how someone could believe that Romney will win. If you are betting that Romney gets bumps from VP, Convention and Debates. If you were a supporter, you would have to believe your guy is better than the other and so all
that would get him to be at least even with Obama if not ahead. And many seem to believe undecideds will break for the challenger, giving him another point.

I don't buy all that, but it isn't unreasonable or crazy to think it. It would be a bit much to be sure, but only hacks are sure of anything.
