How would you have voted: UK leadership elections

All right, I've had this idea for a while for a "How would you have voted" thread where instead of in national or state/provincial election, we could have a thread where in a given country and you were a member of the party with which you most sympathized, how would you have voted in its leadership and deputy leadership elections?  Here's a UK edition.  And yes, you can change your hypothetical party affiliation at a given date (ex. voting in all Labour leadership elections up to and including 1994, leaving the Labour Party and switching to the Lib Dems around 2003, and voting in all Lib Dem leadership elections after that.  Just be sure to say why).  As is to be expected of me, I'd be Labour.

Remember that ordinary Labour members could not vote in leadership elections until the leadership election of 1983, that ordinary Tory members could not until the leadership election of 2001 and that ordinary Liberal members couldn't until the leadership election of 1976 (I think. I'm not entirely familiar with how the electoral college they used then actually worked). So your hypothetical as to be as a hypothetical Member of Parliament which makes things different.

My votes in Tory leadership elections based on who I think would have made the least electorally successful leader:

1965: Powell at the time, probably. No idea how a post-ROB speech Powell leadership would have turned out....don't particularly like to think about it.
1975: Well, certainly Thatcher without hindsight. With....hmmmm....probably one of the minor candidates on the second ballot. Peyton, I suppose.
1989: Thatcher had become rather toxic by this point, so her.
1990: Major lacks charisma, but managed to run a pretty effective campaign in 1992. So probably Hurd on the second ballot. Thatcher on the first.
1995: John Redwood
1997: Peter Lilley
2001: IDS, quite obviously. Sorry Phil.
2003: No real contest
2005: Liam Fox
