After securing the nomination, Howard Dean selects little known New Jersey Governor James McGreevey, the first Governor to endorse him in December 2003, as his running mate.

Dean recieves no bounce at his convention, and is behind Bush the entire time. The fatal blow comes one month before election, when Governor McGreevey's former homeland security advisor admits the two had a love affair.

Dean, a staunch defender of gay rights, refuses to drop McGreevey from the ticket, saying he is proud to serve with the first homosexual vice-president since Spiro Agnew.

That part amused me.

Dean would probably do better than that, although in which states I'm not sure.  Depends on what he was running on, and how much he was hated by the media.  They were what initally brought about his demise during the primaries, and I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Dean would have won Washington, CT & NJ.  McGreevey's approval actually went UP after the whole gay story came out & his approval in NJ was higher than Bush's in Jersey

That map is about accurate, except for California.
