Scenario A: Arkansas electing a pro-choice, pro-marijuana governor who actively fights for LGBT causes in his state

Scenario B: Massachusetts electing a pro-life, staunchly anti-gun control governor who actively fights for a constitutional ban on gay marriage in his state

Lean scenario B.

Both of them are more likely than Alabama electing a black... but, still, I think A is more likely. Romney could be elected again there in 2014 or 2018 if he doesn't win this election, but it's higly unlikely.

EDIT: When I said A, I was referring to B...

My evolution:
E: -6.06 -> -6.97 -> -6.97 -> -8.13
S: -6.78 -> -6.09 -> -7.30 -> -7.13

In a battle of two near impossible scenario's, I must go with B.

I would say A, if Democrats continue to have a local/statewide apparatus and run a successful candidate for governor who campaigns as a moderate but governs .... radically for Arkansas.

Supposedly, it's all about style and not about substance in politics these days, so maybe someday either of those states could elect people like that if the candidates are better at connecting with the voters than their opponents.  I doubt something like that will happen any time soon, though.

Probably A. Had you said a different Southern state besides VA, MO, NC, GA, FL, or TX, I'd have said B.
