To be honest I think I should've added Denver, for the Winter Games.

After what happened in 1976, Denver has zero chance of ever getting the Olympic Games.  Being awarded the games and then telling the IOC, "Nevermind, we're not gonna do it," with no war or natural disaster as an excuse has permanently tanked Denver's chances.

Time heals, maybe this time if they ever bid they'll get it.

The only other Winter Games option is Seattle Washington.

I heard the other day than Salt Lake City wanted them again.

Alaska?

No way. They can't host it, not enough money.

For the winter olympics, it's about time Lake Tahoe got the games again.

No way it can handle that many people at the same time.

The only reason why they got it is because of Mitt Romney. It won't happen again.

If I remember well, romney arrived after they got the Games. It was heading to be a disaster and Romney more or less saved them.

Indeed, SLC will be making a push for another olympics - I can't remember which one they're going for, though. 2022, maybe?

Considering that SLC only got the Winter Olympics via bribery and considering how much of a PR disaster that was for the IOC... er... why would they even consider having anything to do with that particular city again?

I think there is going to be a move towards holding the games in cities that already have the infrastructure in place (unless the games go to somewhere in the developing world) So I wouldn't rule out a Los Angeles bid again.

I doubt that will LA will host it again. It's probably going to be one of the cities I listed in this poll.

Why not Cheyenne?
I suppose it doesn't lack space for the construction of numerous stadiums, roads and accommodations.

Ugh, none of these - Detroit only.

Oh I suppose New Orleans is depressed enough to need a boost.  Should be paid for entirely with fiat currency though.

For the Winter Games, what about Pittsburgh or Buffalo?  With Pittsburgh, they can use the Appalachians for the Skiing events.

Just throwing out possibilities.

The Mountains in Pittsburgh aren't that high enough, and Buffalo has no Mountains. You need really high Mountains to host.

Looks like the only two possible candidates for a Winter Games are Seattle and Denver.

That would be the worst olympics ever.

Why Detroit? You want to see an opening ceremony about Chevy cars on Mount Rushmore?

Supposedly Buffalo and Toronto are talking about teaming up.  A Niagara Falls-centered Olympics could be cool.  As far as pure US cities for Summer Olympics- "nice cities in blue states" leaves NYC, San Fran, possibly San Diego (never been but it can't really be that nice, right?), and Boston (probably too small).  San Fran and San Diego are also budgetarily questionable.

For Winter Olympics it would probably have to be Denver, Boise would be great if we could get around the red state factor.

It's an American icon and tourist attraction, it has to be showcased the next time the US hosts. The Chevy cars however does make sense since it's Detroit.
