After a significant hiatus, I have decided to once again regularly participate in Atlasian politics.

The Senate has always, by far, been the most enjoyable aspect of Fantasyland for me; Since joining this game I've served eight terms as a Senator (including a six month stint as PPT), and have also spent four terms presiding over the Senate chamber as Vice President. Thus, in my return to Atlasia I have decided to seek election once again to the legislative branch- for lack of  better words, it is where I feel "I belong" in Atlasia.

I believe in sensible, pragmatic government rather than one managed with an unwavering ideological bent. When serving as a Senator I usually spent a considerable amount of time researching a topic being discussed in the Senate and posting a "wall o' text" offering my thoughts on the bill and possible modifications, rather than blindly voting based on a gut instinct. Nevertheless, I believe I could be described as a social liberal: as my Political Matrix score indicates, I strongly favor personal freedoms and oppose the "legislation of morality", while on economic issues I prefer to look at what works best for a given situation rather than simply assuming that the role of government should necessarily be increased or reduced. Given my long history of participation both here and the forum at large, I believe my record can speak for itself. I have always actively participated in debate and give considerable thought to any vote, and I promise I will continue to do the same if you elect me once more to the Senate.

In addition, given my extensive history in the Senate- I have presided over the chamber more often than anyone besides, I believe, NCYankee- I possess extensive knowledge of procedure and existing Federal statutes that will doubtlessly be a considerable asset to Atlasia if I am elected. In particular, I am very proud of the incredibly arbitrary but entirely legal ways I have successfully abused the OSPR in order to get around procedural roadblocks to the proper consideration of legislation.

If elected, I will strive to be a dedicated, helpful, and active member of the Atlasian Senate. I humbly ask for your vote, so that I may have an opportunity to do so.

No need to "bring back" bgwah's excellent jingle; it remains the Bacon 4 Senate official campaign song. It's only been temporarily removed from my signature to make room for the campaign banner- in principle I dislike large signatures so I try to keep them smaller than the average size of the posts I make. I'll edit my first post in this thread to include it

I can't say anything for the quality of spam, but running the Senate is fun! I've always been a bit of a geek when it comes to parliamentary procedure.

To demonstrate the dedication I've consistently given this game, I'd like to offer a few links as evidence:
