By far the most optimistic case I can think of:



Henry Cabot Lodge / Nelson Rockefeller (or Miller) vs. John F. Kennedy / Hubert Humphery vs. George Wallace / Happy Chandler

Kennedy winning Texas without LBJ? No way.

Also, I doubt Wallace would run as early as 1964. He participated in some Democratic primaries ITL, but only to test his popularity.
