Sunderland supposedly inquired about Cavani. What a joke!
Ha Ha. Its never boring with Di Canio as your manager.

Ferguson retires - Jose Mourinho available? Possible, if Chelsea fail to reach Champions League next season.

Football will never be the same again.

End of an Era, no matter what people think of the man.

Latest Odds (Ladbrokes):
Moyes 1/3
Mourinho 11/4
Klopp 10/1

It looks like Moyes is favourite.

He's always held decent political views, I'll give him that. Tongue Great manager too etc.

The path that football clubs have taken after an uber-legendary manager has called it quits is pretty mixed. Liverpool became even more successful after Shankly but Wolves and Nottingham Forest have never been anywhere near the teams they were under Cullis and Clough respectively. Celtic have of course remained at the top (or thereabouts) of Scottish football since Stein. Then, of course, there's Busby. Manchester United went through quite an horrific period after his retirement....they'll be hoping that history doesn't repeat itself.

It's pretty hard to argue that he's not the best manager in the history of the game. I don't really like him (or United) at all, but he deserves massive respect for all his success.

Liverpool became even more successful after Shankly

Of course he was replaced with the not exactly unlegendary Bob Paisley.

Anyway...

Napoli can clinch an automatic CL spot with a win against Bologna today. Would be some nice revenge after the beat us in back to back games late last year.

Oh, yeah. And Chelsea-Spurs today.

If only both could lose! But a Chelsea win makes top 4 for Arsenal a lot easier.

Infratest Dimap polls Champions League final for the ARD.

58% of Germans want Dortmund to win, 27% want Bayern to win, 15% couldn't care less.
59% expect Bayern to win, 28% tip Dortmund to win, 13% haven't a clue since they don't care about football. I'd be interested in a crosstab; wonder how few pessimistic Bayern supporters exist.

(In a similar vein, and in the same poll, 72% are in favor of raising taxes as proposed by Greens and to a lesser extent SPD but 61% believe that the issue will hurt them in the campaign. Probably quite true - what better way to incur the wrath of those who dictate published opinion.)

Palermo (and Siena) officially relegated.  Sad   And today may be the last time we see Cavani play at home in a Napoli jersey.  Cry

Cavani gets the equalizer (possibly his last at home for Napoli) and Hamsik with the very late winner. Grande Napoli.  Smiley
