Ségolčne edges out Sarko in 2007. What would that've been like?

I have a sort of off-topic question. Why is Royal considered to be such a joke and a bad candidate/politician? Is she really that clueless.

From what I gather, she comes off as very self-loving and a shameless populist and she's made some stupid, stupid gaffes in the past. She extremely divisive within the PS as well. Someone French'll definitely be able to elaborate more.

I would! Personalities in French politics leave me baffled.

I'll read it Hash, I am actually interested to hear more about the gaffes in Royale's 2007 campaign (I know about the Reims Congress and that she ran for the leadership of a religious cult, but I would like to read your effortpost if you feel up to it.

The hell? Really!?

I saw about the Quebec sovereignty comment. Reeked of "hey yeah, sure, I can be General De Gaulle."

Her and Hollande must've made such a contrasting couple though, I've  gotta say.

Hollande sure seems to have a thing for crazy women who are far bolder, tougher, and less level-headed than he is (not that that's saying much)

With insight, I'm pretty sure than a Royal presidency would have been a nightmare for the PS and, by today, we'd have gotten a right-wing landslide ala 1993. Guess I need to thank Sarko for winning in 2007 ? Tongue

Beyond true. Could see a scenario where Royal wouldn't have even reached the second round in 2012. The working classes would've bled to Marine and Melonchon.
