I've done variations on this before, but, assuming it would be a few years from now, here is one of mine:
(PS: No, Jon Huntsman will never become a Democrat.)
2012

Vice President: John Thune (R-SD)

Secretary of State: Joe Lieberman (ID-CT)
Secretary of the Treasury: Herman Cain (R-GA)
Secretary of Defense: David Petraeus (?)
Attorney General: Chris Christie (R-NJ)
Secretary of Interior: Mike Enzi (R-WY)
Secretary of Agriculture: Terry Branstad (R-IA)
Secretary of Commerce: John Cornyn (R-TX)
Secretary of Labor: Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI)
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: Jeb Bush (R-FL)
Secretary of Transportation: Mitch Daniels (R-IN)
Secretary of Energy: Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
Secretary of Health and Human Services: John Sununu Sr. (R-NH)
Secretary of Education: Scott Walker (R-WI)
Secretary of Veterans' Affairs: John McCain (R-AZ)
Secretary of Homeland Security: George Pataki (R-NY)

2016

Vice President: John Thune (R-SD)

Secretary of State: Al D'Amato (R-NY)
Secretary of Treasury: Alan Simpson (R-WY)
Secretary of Defense: Susan Collins (R-ME)
Attorney General: Patrick Fitzgerald (?)
Secretary of Interior: Gordon Smith (R-OR)
Secretary of Agriculture: Sam Brownback (R-KS)
Seretary of Commerce: Jim Douglas (R-VT)
Secretary of Labor: John Kasich (R-OH)
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: Duncan Hunter Sr. (R-CA)
Secretary of Transportation: Brian Sandoval (R-NV)
Secretary of Energy: Bobby Jindal (R-LA)
Secretary of Health and Human Services: Mike Rogers (R-MI)
Secretary of Education: Jim Edgar (R-IL)
Secretary of Veterans' Affairs: Allen West (R-FL)
Secretary of Homeland Security: Tom Corbett (R-PA)

Of course, this might need some tweaking for various reasons, but this is just what I would consider ideal.

Secretary of Defense: David Petraeus (?)

"It is hereby expressed as the intent of the Congress that the authority granted by this Act is not to be construed as approval by the Congress of continuing appointments of military men to the office of Secretary of Defense in the future. It is hereby expressed as the sense of the Congress that after General Marshall leaves the office of Secretary of Defense, no additional appointments of military men to that office shall be approved."-- Public Law 81-788 (passed because George Marshall was a five-star general, and Army regulations keep all five-star generals on active duty for life; Petraeus is four-star).

David Petraeus rejected as President Oldiesfreak's nominee for Secretary of Defense due to being illegal. Now what?
How did they do that?

Because before a Cabinet officer takes office, they have to be nominated and confirmed for the position. He is shot down due to it being illegal.

Guys, you know it's not a great idea to stack your cabinet with nothing but well-known political names. For one thing, you're taking a lot of people out of electoral politics that you probably want to KEEP in politics. This was the Obama mistake. Better to use people who are out of electoral politics, leaving electoral politics, or people from the other side in electoral politics, or even better, NOT POLITICIANS.

President - Me, because I am a Narcissist (R-NH)
Vice President of the United States - Mitt Romney (R-MA) [dat geographical diversity]
Secretary of State - Bob Zoellick (R-IL) [would love to keep Hillary, but she's peacing out]
Secretary of the Treasury - Jamie Dimon (D-NY) [a brilliant Democrat respected by GOP. Was on Obama's shortlist]
Secretary of Defense - Jim Talent (R-MO) [obvious choice]
Attorney General - Steve Cooley (R-CA) [done great work in CA, but unfortunately no path to statewide office]
Secretary of the Interior - Brad Carson (D-OK) [respected Democrat, extremely knowledable on Indian Affairs]
Secretary of Agriculture - Hugh Grant (?-MO) [Business acumen to advance US agriculture in the 21st century]
Secretary of Commerce - William M. Daley (D-IL) [Clinton-era Commerce Sec. Former Obama CoS. Did a decent job.]
Secretary of Labor - Steve Forbes (R-NJ) [should be a relentless reformer of labor markets]
Secretary of HHS - Donald Berwick (D-MA) [Most Republicans hate him, but I like him.]
Secretary of HUD - Walter R. Mead (D-SC) [Great thinker]
Secretary of Transportation - Joel Kotkin (?-CA) [Great thinker]
Secretary of Energy - Harold Hamm (?-OK) [Business acumen]
Secretary of Education - Joel Klein (D-NY) [Respected NY chancellor. Was on Obama's shortlist.]
Secretary of Veteran's Affairs - Eric Shinseki (D-HI) [Holdover from Obama]

Secretary of Homeland Security - Cofer Black (?-CT) [Respected security expert]

This is a pretty well thought out Cabinet.

I will stay home in this next election if we do not have a conservative tea party patriot. I have had enough RINOS

That was not the reaction I expected. I expected bipartisan hate.
