Joe Biden is not the asset he once was to the Obama campaign.  He's starting to talk about a lot of crazy stuff again.  There's a lot of desperation going on from Obama and Biden in their attacks on Romney and Ryan.  They recognize that Obama is vulnerable to losing.

If Biden is replaced, who would be the best choice to replace him, and why?

Some people have said Hillary would be ideal.

Even though I think Hillary would turn it down, I think Mark Warner or Evan Bayh would jump at the chance.  Both would be an asset in the swing states of Virginia and neighboring Ohio for Bayh.  Most people are familiar with Bayh, as he was the 2nd choice to Biden in 2008.

It wouldn't be far-fetched to replace Biden, especially if they claim medical reasons.

They wouldn't pick Warner because they need his Senate Seat. Unless theirs a law in Virginia that says you must appoint someone of the same party, McDonnell would either appoint himself or another GOPer. They'd probably pick Bayh and pick of Indiana's 11 votes. They could go for a wildcats like John Hickenlooper and close out Colorado against Romney.
But we all know it ain't happening.

If Biden admits being born in Kenya and Obama needs to dump him, the best choice to replace him is Hillary, though Andrew Cuomo is also a good choice.  Really, anyone who didn't author a plan to replace Medicare with vouchers is a sane choice.

Probably Evan Bayh, Andrew Cuomo, or if he really wanted to surprise people Brian Schweitzer. That being said I highly doubt the Obama Campaign would do it. Then again it could happen although I doubt so. However, I've been surprised by quite a bit with politics in the past

Hillary. She would widen the gender gap, which is a problem Romney has... and she is popular right now. Her ratings are in the 60s and Bill Clinton would really be campaigning for her hard. Obama needs a game change, I think.

Joe Biden, because he's Joe Biden.

I want to keep Biden, but let's assume that he has health problems and has to leave the ticket. Ideally it should be someone without 2016 ambitions; instead, I'd pick an elder statesman.

Biden is the only part of the ticket (either ticket I should say) not entirely worthless.

Evan Bayh would be a good pick but the base would never accept him. Obama could ram him down their throats but it probably wouldn't help enthusiasm.

Hillary, but Biden won't be dumped, and he remains an asset to this ticket.

Reid, because he took the fall for Obama in lying about Romney, and because Reid is as old as dirt.

Come to think of it, Reid is dirt.

Hillary is the best choice, but Schweitzer or Bayh wouldn't be bad either. Though the soon-to-be ex- governor John Lynch isn't a bad possibility. He's widely popular despite having done very little IMO. He's competent and would not hurt the Obama Ticket. The fact is Obama won't dump Biden, even though he's a drag on the ticket. Dropping him would look desperate.

Ugh, not Bayh Tongue.

I'd go with Max Cleland, now that I think of it (though again, I love Biden too much to kick him off). Not only does he have a great background that helps Obama on foreign policy, but he helps create the narrative that the GOP is only concerned with winning (since Cleland faced a disgusting campaign against him in 2002).

Clinton. If she was not interested, probably Bayh or Kerry if he was interested.

Now you've resorted to SPAMMING other people's threads with your nonsense.
Are you trying to get yourself banned from the forum?
Get some maturity and grow up.  If you don't like the current event topics, you don't have to ruin the threads for people who want honest discussions.

If you want nepotism, then Beau Biden would be the obvious choice since he was supposed to take over his father's Senate seat.  Democrats love Nepotism, lol.

milhouse24, candidates' widows are often asked to step in if the candidate dies suddenly very close to the election. There are many examples from history.

The best choice IS Biden. But if he dies/has health problems, Schweitzer, Clinton, Webb, Hagel (!) or Bayh would be an asset for the ticket.

Bayh is a useless moderate hero. He's a mediocre public speaker and would be absolutely crushed in a debate with Paul Ryan. Furthermore, even if Obama offered, I doubt he would take it, because he's said to have disliked life in Washington and wanted to return home to Indiana.

From my GOP-hack POV? Keep Biden.

From a neutral standpoint? Hillary Clinton would make this election safe Obama.

Biden will not be replaced.  If he were, though, I think Sherrod Brown would be a good pick for VP.  Though Obama would probably pick Hilary or Cuomo, being the rightist that he is.

There's still too much prejudice against amputees, unfortunately.
